I have a love-hate relationship with Chinese New Year. I love this festive season as this is one of the few chances where all the family members get to gather and mingle. Chinese New Year in my family is always full of laughter.
I hate all the traveling and hate that we had to pay higher than normal air ticket prices just because it is chinese new year! The hubs says that this is part of a bopian (no choice) act 😦 This year was especially hectic and with a baby in tow, it makes the traveling 10x worse.
Despite all that, this CNY was a special one because of Elisa. It was our first year as parents and Elisa’s first year receiving ang pows, which she happily put in her mouth thinking they are food. Oh well, she puts everything in her mouth, doesn’t she? 🙂
This year, we joined the hubs paternal family for reunion dinner and the first day of CNY in Seremban. It was Elisa’s first time meeting all her granduncles, grandaunts, uncles and aunties. She charmed the socks off everyone! 🙂
Every family has got their own traditions. The hubs family will gather for breakfast and after that, it’s time to 拜年. Everyone will take turns to 拜年 with the elders and to get ang pows.
After Seremban, we made our way back to KL and did some visiting before heading to the airport for our flight back to Penang. When we reached the airport, we found out that our flight was retimed or in another words DELAYED!! 😦
This is pretty much our first half of cny celebrations. Second half – Penang!
